Nintendo of Japan has released a brand new, four minute long overview trailer for the upcoming Mario Golf: World Tour for the Nintendo 3DS. This Camelot developed sports title has been on my radar in a big way since its announcement, and today’s fresh trailer is just what the doctor ordered.
The video covers gameplay, items, courses and special secrets. The secrets, of course, offer unique ways to traverse the playing space through shots. Want to make it to the hole a little faster on the Jungle course? Nail a shot into a DK barrel and enjoy the ride. Miss and you’ll be OB.
Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour for the GameCube was a constant fixture in my dorm room. My nextdoor neighbor, and current good friend, would come over daily to clear a few courses and unlock some interesting characters. The game was tough in that regard, and it provided a lot of content if you were willing to go the extra mile with it.
I’m really hoping I’ll be able to say the same for Mario Golf: World Tour when it releases on May 2. Camelot is a great studio, but their most recent Mario sports effort was a mess in my opinion. Mario Tennis Open was too short, offered very little in the way of unique features and didn’t have nearly enough modes to keep me interested.
This overview trailer for Mario Golf: World Tour promises the opposite. Let’s hope it delivers.
