HTC Duo Camera SDK Now Available

The Duo Camera packed into the new HTC One is certainly an eye catching feature, but the Taiwanese company is hoping that the best uses for its new camera hardware will come from third-party developers experimenting with the new design. On that note, HTC released an official software development kit (SDK) for the dual lens today, opening up its impressive photo editing tools to the world.

The public SDK means anyone can integrate the M8’s DualLens and DimensionPlus APIs into their own photo apps for the new HTC One. Imagine snapping a photo on Instagram and then playing with the focus before sharing it online. We may even see interesting new ways to use the Duo Camera come from unexpected sources and smaller companies, providing even more incentive to pick the HTC One (M8) over a competing handset.

If you’re a developer interested in playing around with the Duo Camera SDK hit the source link below to download the skit. If you’re an HTC fan, then stay tuned. We’ll be keeping an eye out for any interesting new photo apps based on the M8’s camera.
