Google Fiber Job Posting Hints at NYC Expansion

Google Fiber is still more idea than actual internet provider. The service is available is parts of Kansas City with expansions happening in cities in Texas and Utah, but a new job listing from Google suggests Fiber may be taking a huge leap forward by bringing its super-fast internet speeds to New York.

New job postings for Google Fiber uncovered by Geek reveal that the company is hiring a regional sales manager to lead a team of employees in New York. The Manhattan-based team would promote Google Fiber to prospective customers, including apartment building landlords and property management companies. The manager would also set quotas for sales reps and negotiate contracts.

Google Fiber launching in NY would definitely come as a shock considering the service’s slow expansion so far. It’s possible Google is simply looking to build a Fiber sales team at its massive New York office to push the service to smaller markets across the country. Then again, launching in a major city could send a clear message to the major carriers that Google Fiber is no longer just a small experiment. There’s no way to know for sure until the company makes an official announcement, but either way Fiber will definitely be getting bigger.
