We’ve had the Galaxy S5 in our office for a few days now and, since we know that smartphone cameras are really important to our readers, we decided to take the Galaxy S5 out on the town to snap some photos. We grabbed pictures in the daylight, in low-light at night, with the flash and more, so that you get a really good idea of what the camera is capable of.

So far we’re really impressed with the results. The photos look super crisp, especially on the phone, but we do have some complaints. For one, it takes a while to take shots in the dark because it takes several at once — likely to make sure it gets the best shot possible. Otherwise, it can fire off up to 30 photos in rapid fire, which is really cool if you’re snapping pictures of a moving object. My favorites include a picture of the ferris wheel in Orange County’s Irvine Spectrum, though there are some other nice shots of the wheels on a red Mustang and a fountain seemingly paused in time.

Be sure to check out our large gallery of pictures, all shot with the Galaxy S5 and with the camera settings on auto, to see just how well the camera performs right out of the box. We’ll be bringing you our full Galaxy S5 review as soon as we can, and stay tuned for even more coverage.
