Target Slashing $100 of Galaxy S5 Price with Trade-In Promotion

by Jacob Kleinman | April 7, 2014

The Galaxy S5 still isn’t available to purchase here in the U.S., but as soon as it’s released Target will be offering a $100 discount off the new smartphone. Starting on April 11 you can trade-in your own old handset in-store or online and pick up Samsung’s new flagship handset for just $99 with a two-year contract.

The deal covers AT&T, Verizon and Sprint contracts. To see if your phone qualifies head to Target’s website via the source link below. The company’s trade-in program covers most flagship devices, but might not include older mid-range models. Target also notes that you can get an extra five percent discount when you use your REDcard.

The Galaxy S5 offers the latest hardware including a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display, a 16-megapixel camera, a Snapdragon 801 processor and water-resistant coating. It also comes with a built-in fingerprint sensor and heart rate monitor. The upcoming device runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box with Samsung’s own TouchWiz UI on top.

If you’re looking for pure specs and power Samsung’s generally your best bet and this phone is no exception. We’re not huge fans of the dimpled plastic back, though you’ll probably be able to swap it out for a custom panel from a third-party designer. Stay tuned for our full review of the Galaxy S5 in the near future.
