NVIDIA Shield April Update Includes a Host of New Features

The NVIDIA Shield is currently receiving its April update, and it’s one you’re going to want to download as soon as possible if you love PC games.

Announced via a blog post this morning, the NVIDIA Shield is receiving a pretty significant update currently. Right off the bat you’ll notice an upgrade from Android 4.4 KitKat to the newer 4.4.2. While nothing major changes in that, there have been numerous bug fixes.

Potentially the most exciting new feature for owners of the NVIDIA Shield is the arrival of the beta for Remote GameStream. You can now play your PC games away from home, freeing you up to get in another round of Titanfall while on your lunch break, or – if your LTE is good – even while on the go.

Amongst the other enhancements is an improved TegraZone, improved Gamepad Mapper, Console Mode with keyboard and mouse support, the ability to connect to multiple PCs and a whole lot more.

PC Games are already a blast, but with each update the NVIDIA Shield appears to be becoming a better value as an add-on to your rig. You can check out the full list of enhancements in the company’s announcement, or just get to downloading the update. Or, if you’re now feeling tempted to jump into ownership, the NVIDIA Shield has been marked down to $199.99 through the end of the month.
