Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, a game that lots of Lord of the Rings fans have honed in on with their Tolkien focused lust, officially has a solid release date. The Warner Bros. published, and Monolith Productions developed, effort will release on Oct. 7, 2014.
The game will sell for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC platforms.
To celebrate the news of the release date, Warner and Monolith have created a fresh story trailer for the game. You can find that two minute-ish clip at the head of this post.
Shadow of Mordor features a Ranger named Talon as its main character. Talon has Wraith-like abilities, meaning he can walk the world Frodo and Bilbo see while wearing the ring.
Talon will quest about this open world, exacting revenge and justice on all sorts of characters in Middle-earth. The crazy thing is that Monolith has promised that Talon’s actions will all have effects on enemies, AI and situations. Side-quests will change and evolve based on how you play. How much of that is legit versus how much is marketing fodder, of course, remains to be seen.
We’ll know for sure when the leaves that haven’t even shown up yet start to turn all crispy and brown. Stay tuned.
