Starting today it’s even easier to pick up a smartwatch from Pebble. The company announced a new partnership with Target on Monday, where the popular wearable device will be available for $149.99 in three different colors: Arctic White, Jet Black and Cherry Red.
Unfortunately, Target won’t be offering the new Pebble Steel, which sports a nicer design and upgraded hardware for $229. If you’re still not totally sold on the idea of a smartwatch and want a cheaper option, the original Pebble is the perfect choice. You still get the same e-ink screen, week-long battery, smartphone notifications, music control and access to Pebble’s Appstore for a price that won’t put a dent in your bank account.
There is one reason to hold off on buying a Pebble, though, and it’s Android Wear, Google’s newly announced wearables platform. The first Android Wear smartwatches from Motorola and LG won’t launch until the summer, though, and $150 is a good deal considering what the Pebble has to offer. Still, if you’re already committed to grabbing the Moto 360 you may be better off saving your money for what we expect will be a pretty pricey Motorola smartwatch.
