Basis B1 Activity and Sleep Tracker REVIEW: A Smarter Activity Monitor

A New Year, and list of new resolutions, and one of them may be to be more active or to live a healthier lifestyle.  The Basis B1 Activity Band may help you pursue this feat. The Basis B1 Activity Band promises to do quite a bit.  This is a band/watch unlike the Samsung Galaxy Gear […]

Intel and Basis Science announced Tuesday the health and fitness watch company has been acquired by Intel. The exact amount of the deal was not disclosed. Basis makes the Basis Band, which we reviewed earlier this year, while it is certainly not a smartwatch like the Moto 360, Pebble or Gear, it is absolutely one of the smartest health monitors on the market.

According to Intel:

“The acquisition of BASIS Science accelerates Intel’s wearable products focus and extends the company’s capabilities in this area. It also brings access to new technology, and further expands the leadership team with people who have a proven track record of innovation in wearable device technologies for health and fitness applications.”

The Basis band will continue to be sold and maintained through its existing channels. Including its stellar online dashboard.  As for the Basis Science team, it will stay intact as it moves over to Intel’s New Devices Group.

In a separate email to Basis’ users it promises to continue to abide by its principles, privacy policy and continue to develop innovative health and fitness monitoring products.
