If you’re all excited to pick up the HTC One (M8) as soon as it’s announced, you may want to make sure your Verizon account is in order.
HTC is set to announced its latest flagship phone, the HTC One (M8) on Tuesday, and it appears those of us in the United States will only be able to pick it up that day if we’re Verizon customers. According to a source speaking with HTC Source, the latest HTC phone will go on sale at 1:00 p.m. Eastern on March 25 at Verizon stores, which happens to be just when the Taiwanese company’s press event is scheduled to begin in New York City and London. The exclusivity through Verizon is said to last only for a few weeks which would line up with the rumors that the phone would be available globally two weeks after the announcement.
We’ve heard rumors of the HTC One (M8) being available from some shops in the U.K. on March 25 as well, so it’s possible that HTC is launching with limited time exclusives in various countries on the same day. Possibly the biggest red flag on this rumor is the fact that AT&T has already put up a teaser for a new HTC handset, but it could be that the carrier just intends to start accepting pre-orders that day.
We only have a little less than two days until we find out all the details, but those of you on Verizon may want to check your upgrade status with your carrier in advance just to be on the safe side.
