Flashback Friday: AT&T Envisions a Digital Future

flashback-friday (1)Oh how I love films that envision “the future.” They never cease to make me chuckle. International food deliveries by rocket? Totally cost effective!

This 1961 film from AT&T – known as Bell at the time – called “Challenge of the Future” shows us some some of the problems facing businesses in 1961, but about two-thirds of the way through it takes an odd left turn in to crazy town. This is where we start seeing some of the crazy things that are being worked on in the lab, and while one of them did come true (a primitive fax machine), I don’t think any butcher has begun receiving shipments from France of ingredients by rocket launch.

Am I wrong? Is this a thing?

Sit back and enjoy, I’ll be over here enjoying my Kobe beef fresh from Japan that just landed in the backyard.
