Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is live online and available at your local video game store. Konami’s launch trailer doesn’t reveal too much outside of what we already know about the game, but it’s one last time to sell it to potential customers of opening week.
The thing is that this launch trailer might be longer than the actual game itself! Okay, that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but not by that much. Speed run videos are emerging all over the Internet which are putting the play time at roughly 12 minutes. Granted, that is a bare minimum run through without any of the additional fun and Easter Eggs that Hideo Kojima usually hides in his games.
The short length makes this product feel more like like an expensive $19.99 demo for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, not a full product, but hey! Keifer Sutherland does not come cheap, and Konami has to find some way to pay off that extra price tag.
Keifer might as well have come cheap, though. He sounds nothing like Snake or former actor David Hayter, and it is completely jarring hearing any voice different from Snake’s iconic growl emerge from his lips. “Chico, where is Paz?” he says, and I can only imagine in my head how Hayter might have said those lines instead.
But hey, if Konami wants to charge $19.99 for a demo, who’s going to stop them from charging for a potential Hayter DLC voice over somewhere down the line? Gotta find a way to cover that price tag.
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes launched for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
