Xiaomi is one of the most popular smartphone brands in China, but the company still didn’t make a big show of unveiling its latest smartphone. The 5.5-inch Redmi Note was announced earlier today on Chinese social media site Sina Weibo ahead of its official launch on March 26.
The device’s specs line up with a leak from last week outing the handset. The Redmi Note packs a 5.5-inch display and an octa-core processor, though little else is known about the smartphone. Thankfully, history tells us that Xiamoi probably won’t charge an arm and a leg for its new smartphone. In fact, it’s even launching a little guessing game.
The company is giving away 50 copies of the device to fans who can guess its price. If you decide to take a shot at the prize, remember that the original 4.7-inch Redmi phone sold for just $130 off-contract in China, so this might come in just a hair above that cost. Pre-orders for the handset open up in China on March 19 through Tencent’s Qzone app, which scored an exclusive deal for the launch.
