The closure of BioShock Infinite‘s development studio, Irrational Games, just goes to show how insecure your designing job on the AAA market can really be. Not even making one of the most critically lauded and financially successful games of the year is enough to guarantee you work on future projects.
While they might find themselves out of a job, the folks from Irrational Games at least get the rare opportunity to go out on a high note. Employees were given a chance to speak about their proudest moments working on BioShock Infinite, everything from the combat to the textures on the lock-picking mini-games. These people obviously enjoyed working on their game, and it shows in their recollections and happy memories.
Irrational has uploaded the video for the entire Internet to see, instituting a period of mourning and wondering what could have been next.
Hopefully most of these people have already been hired thanks to a job fair that Irrational held for them as part of the severance agreement. If not, then perhaps this video can at least give them another chance to speak out and reach for other companies.
These people made BioShock Infinite! How can they not keep a job, let alone find a new one. I just don’t get it. It’s, dare I say… Irrational?
