The size of Instagram for Android was cut in half in a new update that promises a faster and more responsive experience. In a post on the company’s blog, Instagram said profile screens should load twice as fast, while the app overall is easier to use. The app now features an even cleaner design, too, with simplified visuals while also making use of valuable screen space on smaller devices.

The update brings the version up to 5.1. Though no big features are added in the update, the improved design and focus on performance should definitely make Instagram feel like a completely different app. Users of older versions of Android should particularly notice some differences as the app supports devices running Android 2.2 and up.

You can download the update through Google Play now.
