Rovio Teases Medieval Angry Birds Game

Rovio, the maker behind the hit Angry Birds series of games, is teasing its next title. We don’t yet have a name or launch date, but the company posted a video on YouTube that shows an Angry Bird inside of knight armor, pointing to a title with a medieval-theme. To echo the top comment on Rovio’s YouTube channel: Does anyone even play Angry Birds anymore?

The original was fun, as were the few that followed it we suppose. Angry Birds Space added a nice touch with gravity-themed gaming, too, and then we had a game that was sort of like Mario Kart with Angry Birds: Go. That title was relatively addictive, but it required too many in-game purchases to keep progressing to keep me addicted. What will the company’s strategy be with its next game?

If it’s more of the same then Rovio may need to head back to the drawing board. Though considering it has had major franchise partnerships in the past, we also wonder if maybe there’s some sort of Game of Thrones tie-in with the medieval theme. Smashing Lannisters would be more fun than smashing pigs. The title is set to launch in Canada and Australia first, with more countries to follow.
