Most companies do their best to keep upcoming smartphones a secret until the last possible minute, but OnePlus is taking a different strategy. It is explaining each important decision on its public blog as soon as possible. Most recently, the new company took to its site to reveal plans for a 3100mAh non-removable battery along with a Snapdragon 800 processor for its upcoming OnePlus One handset.

The decision to choose a massive battery is pretty self-explanatory. OnePlus notes that its goal was to offer a smartphone that lasts all day without asking users to constantly close their apps, lower the brightness, or disable Bluetooth. Meanwhile, the decision to use a non-removable battery came from the desire to offer the slimmest design possible.

“A removable battery would have meant adding a protective layer to the motherboard as well as extra circuitry, resulting in a smaller battery (2500mAh, 20% less battery juice!) or a significantly thicker phone,” the company explained.

OnePlus also takes the opportunity to remind us it’s working closely with the Cyanogen team on its upcoming phone, and teases something called “Mystery Tech” which it says will drastically improve the user experience. We can’t wait to see how the smartphone turns out, and hopefully it won’t be long before we get more details on how the company plans to integrate CyanogenMod into its hardware.
