iPhone Air Concept Shows Larger 4.7-inch Display

What will the iPhone 6 look like? We don’t really have a clue yet, though there have been more than just a couple reports suggesting Apple will move to a larger display. A new “iPhone Air” concept – another possible name for the iPhone 6 – was recently created by graphic artist Sam Beckett, and gives a good representation of what the iPhone 6 might look like, especially if Apple doesn’t make drastic design changes.

We can see a larger 4.7-inch display with slimmer bezels. Beckett also imagines the use of sapphire crystal, which Apple is manufacturing in a new plant in Arizona, and that would allow for a more scratch resistant screen. TouchID is still right below the screen on the home button, though the back looks a bit more like the iPhone 4/4s than the iPhone 5/5s, with what appears to be a glass sheet. Beckett also says his concept is nine percent thinner than the iPhone 5s, and he imagines a 10-megapixel camera with an f/1.8 aperture. if you look close, you can see a concept of Healthbook is pre-loaded on the device, too.

The design is rather conservative – we don’t see a flexible display or anything else, which some of the other concepts have added. We hope Apple’s next-generation iPhone offers a few more changes, even if it does have a bigger screen. Right now we’re expecting an announcement closer to September, when Apple usually refreshes its iPhones and iPads.
