Yumi’s Odd Odyssey Dated for March 20th on Nintendo 3DS eShop

Yumi’s Odd Odyssey, known better as Sayonara Umihara Kawase to longtime fans of the series, has finally been dated for a March 20 release on the Nintendo 3DS. Natsume has set the entry fee at a steep $29.99, so we’ll have to see how many newcomers this incredibly niche game will pull in with a price like that.

For those newcomers, Yumi’s Odd Odyssey can best be described as Bionic Commando if it fell into a huge vat of sweets. Yumi uses a fishing pole as a grappling hook, and she bounces through non-linear levels, solving puzzles and murdering fish along the way. Don’t let the bubblegum images and cute music fool you, though. These games can be tough.

Reception of this latest game has been mixed from longtime fans, most of whom still prefer the amazing Super Famicom original. Still, this is the first and most likely last time we will ever see Yumi’s Odd Odyssey make it to the States. If you are a fan who has wanted to support its localization, now is the time to do so.

Yumi’s Odd Odyssey will be released on the Nintendo 3DS eShop on March 20.
