The Galaxy S5 won’t arrive in the U.S. until next month, but that hasn’t stopped hundreds of thousands of Samsung fans from pre-registering for the device with T-Mobile. The carrier announced the news today with a Twitter post from T-Mobile senior product manager Desmond Smith.

Of course, those 300,000 pre-registrations won’t automatically translate into 300,000 sales. Most customers are likely signing up for the chance to win one of several Galaxy S5 handsets the carrier is giving away as well a quick update as soon as the device hits T-Mobile’s network. It’s also good news for the Un-Carrier, which will likely hold onto the contact information of everyone who registered online.
The Galaxy S5 comes with a 5.1-inch display, waterproof coating, a fingerprint sensor, a heart-rate monitor, and a redesigned plastic back panel that’s softer than the Galaxy S4’s slippery casing. It runs the latest Android 4.4 along with Samsung’s slightly tweaked and feature-packed TouchWiz UI. If that sounds like the smartphone for you head over to T-Mobile via the source link below to pre-register for a chance to win one for free.
