Best Smartphones – Reader’s Choice 2014: Mobile Madness

TechnoBuffalo - Mobile Madness 2014 - Brackets

As March rolls-on, college basketball’s March Madness ensues with much excitement and heartbreak. Last year we started our own version of March Madness in the form of Mobile Madness, where we pitted 16 smartphones against each other in a single elimination tournament style series.  Last year’s eventual winner was the HTC One. This device certainly ranked highly amongst the TechnoBuffalo staff and it is no surprise it took home top honors.

A new year is upon us, and that means a new batch of phones to be paired off to fight to the death. Surely the selection process is not at all scientific.  In fact, our random pairing is nothing more than picking names out of a hat.

We paired down our list of 16 by looking at what devices we’ve had some exposure to (e.g., reviews, hands-on, unboxing) and devices that are available for the U.S. market.  This meant it eliminated Nokia X which will not be available in the U.S. and the All New HTC One, even though we expect to see it announced later in March.

Our readers seemed to have fun playing along last year and we enjoyed hosting this tournament. So let’s give this another whirl.  And before you begin complaining about the tournament system (e.g., World Cup, playoff system, etc.), BREATHE! and remember this is just a game.

So our Top 16 choices for this year’s Mobile Madness are as follows:
