Frictional Games Releases SOMA ‘Theta’ Trailer

Frictional Games announced SOMA last October, and it has been slowly trickling out details about it. Some seriously bad science is going down on this space station.

From the few tidbits we’ve seen, it seems like someone aboard the space station is manipulating those aboard for the sake of their experiments. Someone is bound to notice, and soon.

The various trailers suggest the game is playing with ideas about consciousness, humanity, and artificial intelligence, looked at from a horror-style perspective. If your consciousness and personality are moved to a computer, are you still you?

I could be way off – the elements shown just hint at questions like those. The game is still set for release on PC and PlayStation 4 sometime in 2015, so Frictional is taking its time, and I’m hoping they’ll go as far down the rabbit hole as it can with these sorts of questions to make a truly unnerving game.
