Sony is reporting that as of March 2, six million PlayStation 4s have been shipped worldwide since launch back on Nov. 15, 2013, and it is now available in 57 countries around the planet.
This figure includes the 370,000 that have been sold since the console launched in its home country of Japan on Feb. 22.
“I am absolutely delighted that PS4 is off to such a great start in Japan,” says Andrew House, President and Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment in an attached statement. “The responses we have received for the PS4 system’s integrated social capabilities have been phenomenal, and I couldn’t be more thrilled that gamers are utilizing these unique features to engage, share, play and connect with users around the world..”
On the software front, Sony reports that 13.7 million games have been shipped, a figure that includes both physical and digital releases. Upcoming hits that Sony has touted coming in the next few months include inFamous: Second Son, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, The Order: 1886, Watch_Dogs and #Driveclub, which is now stylized wit a hashtag.
So far, PlayStation 4 users have shared over 100 million screenshots and 3.6 million Twitch and Ustream broadcasts.
