Waluigi Not Playable in New Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS – WAAAAHHHH!

Waluigi in Smash

Well, Waluigi’s back in the new Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Unfortunately for Luigi’s doppelganger and his fanbase, he’s coming back as nothing more than an assist trophy.

Masahiro Sakurai, Director of the Smash series, announced the news in a Miiverse post that included the picture you see at the head of this article. He also threw in a little Waluigi burn for good measure.

Pic of the day. Once again, Waluigi’s Assist Trophy joins the collection!! …Which also means he’s not a playable character. Just because you try hard doesn’t mean you’ll make it into the battle.

Poor Waluigi. His best role remains the intro screen to Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour on the Gamecube. “Camelot!”

Personally, I’m fine with Waluigi’s absence here. Sure, he’s a ridiculous character. And, yes, he’s probably be fun to play as. However, I’d rather his slot go to the likes of Captain Falcon or Ness.

Sorry, Waluigi.
