Asus unveiled two new charging docks for the second-generation Nexus 7 today, including a $50 dock and a $90 wireless charging stand. Both are available now on Amazon and offer a sleek new way to charge and use your Google tablet.
The $50 dock works in both portrait and landscape mode, plugging into the tablet’s Micro-USB port to charge its battery. The device is more than just a charger though, it also features a a built-in HDMI port so you can stream whatever’s on your Nexus 7 straight to your TV or monitor. Then again, if that’s the main reason you’d be picking up this $50 dock you’re better off spending $35 on a new Chromecast instead.
Meanwhile, the new wireless charging stand uses the Qi standard to deliver juice to your tablet without ever plugging in to the tablet itself. It also features an LED battery indicator for when it’s finished charging and a 60 degree docking angle so you can keep using the device. Still, if you’re looking for a wireless charger for your Nexus 7 you may be better off with Google’s own model, which costs just $50 but features a flat slab design.
