Minecraft continues to parade itself through success with a new milestone to add to its resume. Creator Markus “Notch” Persson has confirmed via Twitter that the original version of the game has reached 100 million unique registrations.
I got an email. We've reached 100 million registered users on the original Minecraft. 14.3% conversion rate to paid accounts. Wow. 😀 <3

The figure includes the free registrations from the browser based demo available on Mac and PC, which is where the 14.3 percent conversion rate factors in. Minecraft was most recently reported to have sold 14 million copies.
Simple math states that 14.3 percent of 100 million is 14.3 million, meaning this figure matches up.
The figure does not include the millions of copies sold through the Xbox 360 or mobile devices though, both of which have shifted at least 10 million each. Nor does it include the 1 million moved through the PlayStation 3.
