Sony hit the top-end of the mobile spectrum, and it also has something meant for mid-level markets. Announced alongside the powerful Xperia Z2, Sony also introduced the Xperia M2, which the company is marketing as a high-end device with an affordable price. If you’re not yet ready to jump into the phablet market, Sony’s M2 is a device you should take interest in. It combines all of Sony’s experience into a familiar design fans have come to love.

Equipped with a 4.8-inch qHD display, the Xperia M2 won’t blow anyone’s hair back with its set of specs. But it is certainly perfectly a contender for space in your pocket. The Snapdragon 400 processor is more than capable for breezing through your typical apps, and the 2300mAh battery will last you through the day no problem. Other specs include LTE support, an 8-megapixel camera and NFC. Sony’s also including some perks along with the M2, including 3 free blockbuster movies from its catalog and 30 days free trial of the Music Unlimited service.

The M2 will likely be drowned out in a sea of “mini” handsets,” but Sony is really pushing the device’s entertainment options as a way to stand out. If you’re not invested in any particular brand, some free movies and music might do the trick to get you interested. In addition to the aforementioned specs, the Xperia M2 will be available in black, white and purple. Sony said the M2 will launch globally in April, and there will even be a dual-SIM variant for you world travelers. No pricing was made available, though Sony stressed that it would be affordable.
