The Huawei MediaPad X1 has broken cover ahead of its unveiling next week at Mobile World Congress in Spain.
The latest tablet from Huawei showed up today in a posting on Chinese social site Weibo today showing both a phone dialer and a faux-leather looking cover that seems very similar to Samsung’s S View covers in that you can still see part of the screen through it. Perhaps this is the wave of the future when it comes to covers, we’ll just have to wait and see.
A phone dialer being included is the fun part here as the MediaPad X1 is a 7-inch device, so either you’ll be using a headset with it or be a brave soul who doesn’t mind walking down the street with a giant device pressed to your ear.
The MediaPad X1 has already passed through the FAA – China’s version of the FCC – and revealed some of the specs we can expect. According to the filing the MediaPad X1 will feature 2GB of RAM, 16GB of memory, a 6000 mAh battery, a HiSilicon 910 quad-core 1.6GHz processor, a resolution of 1920 x 1200 and optional LTE support. The non-LTE version is expected to retail for 1,200 Yuan, or approx. $200 USD.
This follows a leak from yesterday from @evleaks of the Ascend G6, so it appears that the Chinese manufacturer is going to have a busy week in Barcelona. TechnoBuffalo is in attendance at the show and we’ll attempt to bring you some hands-on time with the devices.
