Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z‘s anti-hero protagonist, Kamikaze, has a new trailer and screenshots showing off two of the latest bosses he’ll have to face down in the path to his rival Ryu Hayabusa.
The first is a pretty self-explanatory “guard dog” robot that looks like it was pulled straight from Hideo Kojima, twisted sense of humor and all. However, the second of these monstrosities defies all logic and generalized descriptions. Giant Two-Headed Robot Zombie Ninja Babies. Is there really any better description for this abomination? Because that’s exactly what they are. The game refers to it/them as the Terrible Two.
These two just scrape the tip of what enemies Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z is going to throw in Kamikaze’s way.
We also get a first look at our old hero, Ryu Hayabusa, who is the antagonist this time around. However, he is still the good guy, meaning that in this game you’ll be forced to be bad.
Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z has taken a lot of flack for straying too far from recent iterations in the series. Fans are turned off by the cartoonist look, apparent lack of difficulty, and emphasis on hacking through mindless enemies. My time spent with it at TGS 2013 was enjoyable, and it could be a great game if you enjoy your action raw.
Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z will be released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and iOS on March 18.
