Square Enix might not be diving into a remake of Final Fantasy VII any time soon, but that doesn’t mean it is anywhere near finished with it. After coasting on its success for nearly two decades now, Square Enix still has revenue to make off the enormous bombshell this game left on the video game industry.

Siliconera has eagle-eyed a new trademark in Japan for “Shinra Company,” which is, of course, the militant corporation who owns pretty much every last square inch Final Fantasy VII‘s world and sucks the life straight from its veins.

The trademark was filed for a video game, so all we can do is speculate on the nature of this one. Spin-offs of Final Fantasy VII have ranged from great, Crisis Core on the PSP, to downright silly, pretty much everything else. I wouldn’t put too much thought into this new game until we have physical evidence that it exists, and we know the form it takes.

I’m guessing a mobile game of some kind.
