Square Enix’s third longest running RPG series, SaGa, is turning 25 this year, and the Japanese RPG giant has created an official website to tease an announcement coming on Feb. 19.
The website suggests that SaGa will be working in tandem with another company or series, although I don’t recognize the symbol Square Enix has used on the site. Regardless, that music is really sweet, straight from the Super Famicom games we never got to (legally) play in America.
Series creator Akitoshi Kawazu already announced this year that he had plans to return to the series for its 25th anniversary, so all that remains now is waiting to see what he has in mind. I’m hoping and praying we get a Nintendo 3DS release and not a cheap mobile game, and even then we’ll have to wait and see if it gets localized in English.
Regardless, let’s just hope Candy Crush Saga creator King.com doesn’t get wind of this game. I wouldn’t worry, though. I don’t think it can buy it’s way back 25 years into history and block a SaGa trademark this time.
