Sony’s Xperia Z1 Compact offers a smaller version of the flagship Z1 with similar specs, but it looks like the company may be preparing to launch a mid-range variant as well. A new photo shared by Twitter tipster @vizileaks reveals what it claims is the Xperia G placed underneath the Z1 for comparison.
Based on the photo above, the alleged Xperia G is slightly smaller that its flagship sister, likely offering a screen somewhere around 4.7 inches compared to the Z1’s 5-inch display. There’s not much else to report on the rumored device, though Unwired View points to a Sony smartphone with model number D5103 that leaked yesterday with a 720p display, a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, LTE support and Android 4.4 out of the box as possible hints toward what we can expect.
Based on those specs and the device’s alleged name, we imagine the Xperia G will represent Sony’s answer to the Moto G, offering mid-range specs with a similar design language to its flagship model all at a budget-friendly price. The Xperia G’s biggest advantage may be the inclusion of LTE, though it’s possible this could drive the price up on Sony’s new smartphone.
