The Home Run Bat, AKA the dirtiest, sleaziest, cheapest weapon in the entire franchise, has been confirmed for a release in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS by Masahiro Sakurai.
Two screenshots uploaded to the game’s official website feature Toon Link and Donkey Kong demonstrating what exactly is so wrong with this weapon. First you see poor Donkey Kong, and now you don’t. The Home Run Bat is just about a guaranteed one-hit kill, and a perfectly timed hit will send even the heaviest characters into orbit.
Even when used as a projectile weapon, the Home Run Bat can cause some serious damage and abruptly change the momentum of the game.
Only the Smash Balls rank higher on the cheese scale, but the Home Run Bat falls outside of the realm straight up cheating since its main function is actually kind of tough to pull off.
Of course, specific items are capable of being disabled, so those who hate the Home Run Bat can certainly just ignore it and move on. Despite my gripes, I love the occasional use of the weapon and love being on the dishing side of things.
No release date for Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U and 3DS, but we’ll let you know when there is one. Stay tuned for more.
