Capcom Delivers Strider Retrospective Before Next Week’s Launch

It’s been far too long since we’ve seen the legendary Strider Hiryuu star in his own action game, and Capcom finally has another Strider game on the verge of being released. The last time we saw the one and only ninja was the year 2000 with a release on the original PlayStation, meaning three generations of consoles have passed this series without so much as a blip.

Such is the way of the ninja.

Yet, despite his infrequent casting, he still remains a memorable character thanks to cameos and frequent appearances in the Marvel vs Capcom game series. Without context though, he’s just an awesome looking character who happens to be fun to use in a fight. Just exactly who is Hiryuu, you ask?

To fill in all the newcomers, Capcom has thrown together an informative five minute video to bring everyone up to speed. Take a few minutes to skim over the three main games in the series, a horrible misstep from a Western Studio, and Hiyruu’s many cameos over the years which keep him relevant.

You never know. Capcom might just have a release planned for a few of these classics in the coming months through digital means.

Oh yes, and don’t forget to notice the giant metal gorillas. Can’t have a Strider game without them.

Strider will be launching next week on Feb. 18 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
