The creators behind Left 4 Dead have teamed up once more for a brand new co-op first-person shooter called Evolve. Four grizzled alien hunters gear up to bring down an ever evolving beast capable of growing to massive size, and they bring along with them enough fire power to clear an entire planet of its inhabitants.
Maybe they failed to realize that the monster is also controlled by a fifth player and is not privy to the simplistic patterns of AI controlled enemies.
These four alien hunters follow in the footsteps of Left 4 Dead‘s memorable cast, creating four unique personalities that people can identify with rather than just inhabit faceless bodies like a normal FPS. From the looks of it, we have a cast member from Duck Dynasty, Colonel Mustard if he was reborn in Australia, a cyborg, and the most generic looking female marine ever conceived for a video game.
Turtle Rock Studios is promising a brand new standard for first-person co-op gameplay, and it’s a bar the team has already set twice with tireless work on Counter-Strike and Left 4 Dead. No reason to doubt them at this point.
What makes Evolve particularly interesting is how quickly we’ll be seeing it. Turtle Rock Studios announced the game a month ago, but today is the first we see of this project, and it is due before the end of the year. A rather quick turnaround for a new franchise of this size.
Evolve will be released for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in Q3 of 2014.
