iOS 7.1 beta 5 is now available for developers. The update is likely relatively minor as we move toward a final GM release of Apple’s update to iOS 7, the last step before iOS 7.1 rolls out to everyone. Right now we know that iOS 7.1 will deliver performance enhancements over the current version of iOS that’s available to the public, and some UI tweaks, though new features are also expected. So far, 9to5Mac says one of the larger changes is the addition of new “natural sounding Siri voices for English (Australia), English (United Kingdom), Japanese, and Chinese (Mandarin- China).”
One of those features is iOS in the Car, which should allow users to connect their iPhone to an in-car dashboard for a full navigation and media experience. So far that feature isn’t active inside iOS 7.1, and Apple could choose to activate it for developers ahead of the consumer launch, or sometime after iOS 7.1 is pushed out for everyone.
We’ll let you know what sort of major changes pop up in this release as soon as we can dig up a changelog.
