What is this game?
I’ve never heard of Tecmo-Koei’s Deception series, but a little research has shown that it goes all the way back into the 1990s for the PlayStation. The most we’ve seen from it was a game called Trapt, a PlayStation 2 game not-so-coincidentally about to be released as a PlayStation 2 classic. I had heard of it but never even thought about trying it… until now.
If it’s anything like the trailer for the upcoming PS Vita game Deception IV: Blood Ties, then I will certainly have to check both out.
Oh that poor woman! The game is about creating huge and elaborate traps designed to pummel and humiliate an opponent in the worst possible ways. The kicker is that this is Japan after all, and what good is torture without a big mix of hilarity on the side. Fatal Frame creator, Keisuke Kikuchi, even thought of this game, and those who know Fatal Frame know it wants nothing to do with humor.
Please be careful with the trailer, because it’s quite violent, but it just might also brighten your day. If your first viewing is not enough, just trying to imagine if Crystal Dyamics had decided to take this route with the Tomb Raider reboot.
Believe it or not, this game is coming stateside too. Deception IV: Blood Ties will be released for the PS Vita and PlayStation 3 on March 25. I really need to get a Vita in the near future, don’t I?
