Minecraft is making a lot of money. It’s been nearly five years since the in-development alpha build was released to the masses, and the game is still going strong.
Mojang continues to support it with regular updates, and the game’s following grows by the day. It even has its own yearly convention, simply known as MineCon.
Now, the PC version of the game has sold more than 14 million copies.
Here’s the tweet from Markus “Notch” Persson announcing the statistic.
The computer version of Minecraft has now sold 14 million copies. Celebrating by having no idea how to play Lego marvel on ps4!

What’s crazy, to me, is that the 14 million sold at $20 (which roughly translates to $280,000,000 in sales) is on one single platform. The game is also on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, it’s selling like gangbusters on mobile platforms and its coming to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Have you purchased Minecraft on one of the platforms it’s available on now? Better yet, have you double dipped and bought it several times?
