Zelda Spirit Tracks

So, I heard you like gaming with two screens, huh? The sales figures of the Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS make it kind of hard to believe otherwise. How would you like to play some of your favorite Nintendo DS classics on that nice big TV screen of yours?

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata revealed a plan at Nintendo’s financial briefing, believing that the move will help boost the Wii U’s popularity. Allowing the console to emulate games from the Nintendo DS opens up an entire new library to play on a large screen for the first time.

Nintendo has been working on the idea for quite some time, but it was hindered by technical difficulties.

I wonder how Nintendo plans on working the resolution issues. The Nintendo 3DS XL can play Nintendo DS through backwards compatibility, but the scaling of older games leaves a lot to be desired. I’d like to see this in practice before signing on for sure.

What are some Nintendo DS games you’d love to play on that huge HDTV of yours? I was never blown by Nintendo’s first party games on the DS, but I have catalogs of great third-party games I’d like to play again like all three Castlevania games and the Dragon Quest remakes. I never got around to Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks either.

Toon Link is just so cute driving that train.

Expect to hear more from Nintendo on this in the coming months.
