Google might release the Nexus 5 in red as early as next Tuesday, Feb. 4. According to an internal Sprint document acquired by Android Central, the device will be made available in a matter of days through Google Play. No other details were shared, but what else is there to say? The device will presumably be identical to the existing Nexus 5, which is offered in black and white. Many folks frown upon the practice of releasing more colors after a device initially launches, but it’s still doesn’t hurt to see more options on the table.
We’ve already seen what the red Nexus 5 looks like in the wild, packaging and all. Beyond what we’ve seen and heard, this Sprint document seems to confirm the device’s release is imminent. When it does hit the Google Play store on Feb. 4, the device will likely be available for the same price as existing models, starting at $349 for the 16GB iteration and $399 for the $32 model. If anything else, red will certainly stand out, so if you like loud smartphones, the new color might be perfect for you.
