LG G Flex Now Available for Pre-Order on AT&T, Ships Feb. 4

As promised, AT&T began taking pre-orders for LG’s G Flex today through its online store, though the curved smartphone won’t actually ship until Feb. 4. The Android handset is available for $299.99 with a two-year contract or $649.99 if you pay for the entire device upfront.

The G Flex may not be the first curved smartphone to hit the market, but it’s definitely the world’s first flexible handset on a major carrier—even if it only bends a tiny bit. LG’s new smartphone also features a self-healing coating that automatically removes smaller scraps and scratches. Other features include a massive 6-inch OLED display, a curved 3,500mAh battery, a powerful Snapdragon 800 processor, a 13-megapixel rear camera, 2GB of RAM, and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box with LG’s own software on top.

If you’re the type of person who’s always looking for the next cool thing, then the G Flex is for you. This banana-shaped smartphone will definitely turn some heads, and you won’t be sacrificing on specs for the sake of style. For the rest of us, however, there’s still no clear advantage to owning a curved handset over a classic slate, especially when LG’s new smartphone costs $100 more than most flagship models.
