Humble Roguelike Bundle to Bring Cheap Randomness To Your Life

There are a lot of influential video games out there, but very few have an entire genre named after them. Not all 2D platformers are called “Mariolikes.” Not all first person shooters are called Doomlikes, although the phrase “Doom Clone” was popular for a time.

However, there is always Rogue, a game which spawned a very specific style of RPG subgenre called “roguelikes,” and the best and the brightest of these games are now available in a cheap package on Humble Bundle.

Roguelikes are defined by their random dungeon layout, random monsters, random item placement, and by the fact that if you die, it’s back to square one. Typically, gamers are frequently returned to Level 1, and all items lost. Back to the start from scratch.

Paranormal Activity, an Early Access copy since the final has not yet been released, Dungeons of Dredmor Complete, and Hack, Slash, Loot are all available for whatever price you determine is best.

The Binding of Isaac and its DLC expansion The Wrath of the Lamb, Teleglitch: Die More Edition Guns and Tunes, and Sword of the Stars: The Pit Gold Edition are all available if you cough up at least $6. All of the soundtracks are also included, and the money can be distributed to the developers, charity, and Humble Bundle as you see fit.

I’ve always been interested in roguelikes but have never dedicated myself to many. Azure Dreams and Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer are the extent of my experience, and I enjoyed both. Maybe I’ll give these a shot. The only one I have heard of is The Binding of Isaac because of its ties to Super Meat Boy, but I haven’t gotten around to it.

Any fans out there recommend these games?
