Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze’s Japanese Site Drops Fantastic Soundtrack Excerpts

by Joey Davidson | January 23, 2014January 23, 2014 2:30 pm PST

As the official Japanese site for Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze has opened, five soundtrack excerpts for the Wii U exclusive have now been made available for your aural pleasure.

Retro and Nintendo brought back David Wise to do the score for Tropical Freeze. Wise was the original lead composer for the SNES classic Donkey Kong Country. The decision already seems to be paying off, as these five tracks are fantastic.

The hat tip here goes to a few NeoGAF users. L~A dropped the opening post with links to the five tracks you see below. You can either save them by right clicking or play them by following the links directly. Thoraxes put them together in the video you see at the head of this post.

As someone who adored the tunes in the original Donkey Kong Country, especially the Aquatic Ambience theme, the quick selection of songs offered here is simply fantastic.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze will be swinging onto the Wii U on Feb. 21. We’ll have more on the title as it comes.
