If you’re living in the U.K. there’s no need to order your new Nexus 5 through Google Play. Carphone Warehouse is offering the stock Android smartphone starting at just £298 with free shipping or in-store pickup. The British electronics retailer has generally offered fair prices for the Nexus 5, even while its competitors tried their best to gouge consumers, though until now it hadn’t matched prices.
In case you need a quick reminder, the Nexus 5 offers top-notch Android specs in a handsome, if somewhat utilitarian, design. The Google and LG-designed smartphone comes equipped with a 5-inch 1080p display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of storage, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 camera, a 2300mAh battery, and a somewhat disappointing 8-megapixel camera. The Nexus 5 ships running pure Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box with the promise of early upgrades to each new version of Google’s OS.
With 2014 just beginning, we’re expecting to see plenty of exciting new Android smartphones hit the market, including Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S5 and a successor to the beautiful HTC One. Still, the Nexus 5 is a great device and it’s still the best option if you’re looking for a pure Google experience.
