Rambo: The Video Game Gets a Gameplay Trailer

by Eric Frederiksen | January 20, 2014January 20, 2014 11:30 pm PST

A couple times a year, we get to see a game that looks so bad, we cringe as its release approaches. Rogue Warrior and Ride to Hell: Retribution are two of the best recent examples. Now we have Rambo: The Video Game to look forward to. It’s pretty rare that any game with ┬áthe words “The Video Game” in the title ends up being worth playing, so we’re not expecting a miracle here.

The game looks to be sort of Rambo’s Greatest Hits, depicting scenes from at least the first three Rambo movies. There are a lot of emplaced gun battles where Rambo is stationary or constrained to a small space while fighting a gallery of enemies. There’s also a stealth sequence which showed some minor promise and a quicktime event set during the first movie.

I don’t have any delusions about this game being good, but maybe it’ll light a fire under the Call of Duty guys to get them working on doing something new with the series, because it didn’t look all that different aside from the presence of a bow and arrow.
