BitSummit 2014

Last year’s BitSummit 2013 festival was a great launching point to get the ball rolling on the Japanese indie video gaming scene, and organizers are hoping for an even bigger and more successful event in 2014. The second annual event has just opened for registration to give the future developers of tomorrow a three day bash to show off their personal projects.

BitSummit 2014 will be held from March 7-9 in Kyoto. Along with the rising indie stars in the country, the event is also promising musical acts and world renowned Japanese developers to give speeches and encouragement to the blooming community. Last year saw Deadly Premonitions creator Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro give a speech about how the Western indie market should be a huge source of inspiration.

Any developer of indie games can attend, but priority will be given to Japanese developers. Translators will be on standby to aid foreign press. It’s also only a hour train ride from my apartment. Maybe I’ll be able to pop in one day and let you know what gems you should be on the lookout for. Gamasutra
