HTC Confirms One X, One X+ Stuck on Android 4.2.2

If you own an HTC One X or HTC One X+, don’t expect any new Android updates. Following reports from HTC Netherlands and @LLabtoofer that suggested the HTC One X and HTC One X+ were stuck on Android 4.2.2, TechnoBuffalo reached out for comment and can confirm those stories are indeed true.

“We can confirm that the HTC One X and One X+ will not receive further Android OS updates beyond Android 4.2.2 with Sense 5,” HTC told TechnoBuffalo. “We realize this news will be met with disappointment by some, but our customers should feel confident that we have designed both devices to be optimized with our amazing camera and audio experiences.”

Those handsets are still relatively young and the One X was the flagship smartphone before the HTC One was released this year. It’s clearly disappointing to some early adopters. HTC does put a lot of focus on the user experience, however, so it’s likely the company isn’t able to offer a better experience with the jump to newer versions of Sense and Android.
