Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat Upgrade Finally Begins

Almost three months after Google unveiled the latest version of Android, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 is finally making the jump to 4.4 KitKatSamMobile reports that the update first appeared earlier today in Poland, though it’s expected to expand globally in the near future.

For now, the update is only available through Samsung’s desktop application Kies, though an over-the-air rollout is likely on the way. For Samsung’s flagship phablet, Android 4.4 KitKat adds new Emoji, wireless printing support, the ability to select a default messaging app and launcher, and an updated Galaxy Gear manager app.

Based on previous reports, Samsung’s Galaxy S4 is also expected to make the jump to Android 4.4 KitKat by the end of the month, though at this point there’s no evidence of an update for the 5-inch flagship. Unfortunately, with so many different Android smartphones on the market and each carrier running their own tests before each upgrade, the full KitKat rollout could end up taking a while to Samsung’s latest smartphones that are tied to carriers.
