Acer on Friday announced several new products that will be on display during this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) next week. Among them is the new Liquid Z5 Android smartphone, a device that will make its debut in Europe at an affordable price point.
The Liquid Z5 is equipped with 5-inch screen, though unlike competing handsets at its price point it doesn’t offer an HD resolution, and instead has a super low-res 854 x 480-pixel screen. It also has a dual-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz, 4GB of storage and a 5-megapixel camera that Acer promisessolid low-light performance. The phone runs a now outdated version of Android, however (Android 4.2.2 as opposed to Android 4.4.x).
Acer’s goal was to keep costs down, though, so you’ll be able top grab this when it launches in mid-January for just €169 ($230). At that price, though, a lot of folks should also consider the Moto G, which offers a better screen, more storage and newer software for a fraction of the cost. The Liquid Z5 will land in France, Benelux, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Ukraine and the U.K.
