HTC’s follow-up to the flagship One—allegedly codenamed the M8—is one of the most anticipated devices of the year. We’ve already seen a few alleged photos of the device, but now trusted tipster @evleaks has come forward with a list of “preliminary” specs for the device.
Preliminary HTC M8 specs: Snapdragon MSM8974, 5" 1080p display, 2GB RAM, UltraPixel rear / 2.1MP front cams, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, KK, Sense 6.0

For the most part, it’s looking like the HTC M8 will feature the latest specs available, including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, a 5-inch 1080p display, 2GB of RAM, an UltraPixel rear camera, a 2.1-megapixel front-facing shooter, and run Android 4.4 KitKat with HTC’s Sense 6 software on top. It’s possible the company may also switch out certain components, leaving the possibility of a 2K display or octa-core processor which may be necessary to compete with upcoming Android smartphones from Samsung, LG and Motorola.
HTC had a rough time in 2013, struggling to find success with the HTC One while profits dropped and its executive staff began to abandon ship. The company still has a solid reputation for making beautiful smartphones, but its long term future may depend on how many copies of the M8 it can sell.
